Membership Fees

As of 1st July 2012

Fellows: £21 per annum.  Qualifications: Minimum age 21 years; Shorthand speed certificate @ 140 wpm; OR Teacher's Diploma in Shorthand or Typewriting.

Members: £18 per annum.  Qualifications: Shorthand speed certificate @ 100 wpm OR Advanced Certificate in Typewriting.

Licentiates: £16 per annum.  Qualifications: Persons learning a recognised system of Shorthand; Holders of an Elementary Certificate in Typewriting or some other keyboard skill; Such other qualification as the Council may deem acceptable.

Bona Fide Retired Members: £9.

Journal Readers: £9.

Subscriptions become due on 1st July each year.

Registration fee: £10.

Reinstatement fee: £10.
(for persons who have allowed their membership to lapse, then wish to re-join)

Duplicate IPS certificate fee: £10.

As long as people remain in membership by paying their annual subscription regularly, they may use the following letters after their names:

Fellows: FIPS
Members: MIPS
Licentiates: LIPS

This is the first increase in our fees for 7 years, but the ever-rising cost of postage and room hire has meant that we need to increase our fees.  Members are reminded that there is a Benevolent Fund to which members have contributed over the years.  Please contact our Treasurer, June Harris, whose discretion is assured, if you wish to take advantage of this.

The donation for those attending on a Thursday evening is now £3, or £1.50 for bona fide students/unemployed.
